Passport Photo Requirements And Guidelines:


Ensure your photo meets all the requirements

  • Photo must be in color
  • Printed on Photo Quality Paper
  • Size should be 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm)
  • Sized such that the head is between 25 and 35 mm from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head.
  • Photo must be taken within the past 6 months to reflect your present appearance.
  • Taken in front of a plain white or off-white background
  • Taken in full-face view directly facing the camera with neutral facial expressions and both eyes open.
  • Taken in clothing that you usually wear.

Uniforms should not be worn unless worn daily for a religious purpose.


Do not wear a hat or head covering that obscures the hair or hairline
Headphones, wireless hands-free devices or similar items are not acceptable in your photo
You can wear a hearing device if you are using this for a medical reason.

Eyewear will no longer be allowed in passport photos unless you need them for medical reasons.
Glare on glasses is not acceptable in your photo.

Do passport photos have to have a white background?


Passport photo should be taken in front of a plain white or off-white background to ensure you have fewer delays in the application process.
Application submitted with the poor quality photograph is not acceptable. There may be a chance that these applications might be on hold.

  • Your last passport was issued more than 15 years ago or child under age 16.
  • Your last passport was damaged or lost, else name has changed.

In order to get your New Passport, follow the below steps and complete accordingly

  • Must be completed online, it cannot be handwritten.
  • Must be printed on single sheets of paper; double sided printing is not allowed.
  • Must not sign the application until instructed to do so in-person by the Acceptance Agent.
  • Complete form in capital letters, check typo mistakes.

To obtain a new passport or a first time passport, you must provide an original or a certified copy of one of the following:

    You must submit one of the following. Your evidence must be an original or certified copy. Photocopies and notarized copies are not acceptable.

    • Fully-valid, undamaged U.S. passport (should not be expired)
    • U.S. birth certificate that meets the following requirements:
      • Issued by the city, county, or state of birth
      • Lists your full name, date of birth, and place of birth
      • Lists your parent(s)’ full names
      • Has the date filed with registrar’s office (must be within one year of birth)
      • Has the registrar’s signature
      • Has the seal of the issuing authority
    • Consular Report of Birth Abroad or Certification of Birth
    • Certificate of Naturalization
    • Certificate of Citizenship

    If you have ever had a US Passport and currently do not have proof of US citizenship, please request a file search.

You must present one of the following identification documents (IDs).

  • Fully-valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Fully-valid, undamaged U.S. passport (should not be expired)
  • Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship
  • Government employee ID (city, county, state or federal)
  • U.S. military ID or military dependent ID
  • Valid foreign passport
  • Matricula Consular (Mexican Consular Identification, commonly used by the parent of a U.S. citizen child applicant)

  • If you have a copy of your flight itinerary or ticket, please include it.
  • If you do not have a travel itinerary or a ticket, it’s okay.

  • Must be 2″ x 2″ on a white background without eyewears and should not be older than 6 months.

In the event that you changed your name due to marriage or divorce, you will need to bring in a certified copy of your marriage certificate or a court decree that shows your name change.
